June 2011: A message from the President of the Board of Directors
It has been an exciting year for the Greater Boston Council. I am proud to say that we had the opportunity to help improve the lives of many people through our grants awarded to more than a dozen worthy organizations working tirelessly in the field of substance abuse prevention, education, research and treatment.
Grantees included among others,
* a small after-school activities program for children as young as eight or nine years of age who are living with parents or other family members who have substance abuse issues,
* a large regional residential program,
* a doctoral candidate doing research in the field of substance abuse.
We are thankful for the prudent stewardship of previous members of the Greater Boston Council on Alcoholism for their dedication and diligence, and we are committed to continuing financial support of those who work in the field and who assist in increasing public understanding of alcoholism, its nature, treatment and prevention.
